Title 24 Outdoor Regulations

Energy Design Resources is delighted to offer an online training module on the outdoor lighting regulations in the California Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Title 24) introduced in the latest revision to the standards. The 2005 Title 24 Standards went into effect on October 1, 2005 , and include a greatly expanded mandate on outdoor lighting energy efficiency regulations.

The Curriculum: The class covers various changes to the outdoor lighting regulations in the 2005 Title 24 standards, including:

  • A description of the code change intent
  • The specific code and Alternative Compliance Manual language
  • Introduce the concepts of the California Lighting Zone
  • Information on the non-energy benefits of good outdoor lighting design such as lighting quality, glare reduction, and environmental impacts.
  • Examples of outdoor lighting compliance calculations
  • Links to additional information.

Class Format: The module uses animated illustrations and color images in MS PowerPoint presentation format. Review the module anywhere you have access to the Internet on your own schedule. Approximately 1-2 hours total review time
