The integrated energy design process helps building owners and designers to economically reduce building operating expenses, while improving comfort and productivity for the building's occupants. Construction cost impacts are minimized by taking full advantage of tradeoffs between shell, lighting, and HVAC system costs. Energy cost savings up to 50 percent are possible using an integrated approach. This seminar will introduce the integrated energy design approach, and will address the following topics:

  • What is integrated energy design?
  • How does this approach differ from conventional design?
  • What are the benefits of integrated energy design?
  • Typical design strategies incorporating integrated energy design
  • Strategies to address market barriers to integrated energy design
  • Economics of building and/or leasing an energy-efficient building
  • Case studies
  • Designer and owner incentives available from Savings By Design
