Case Studies: A Retailer Makes a Commitment to Daylight

cs3HomeBase made a commitment to daylighting during a recent major remodeling campaign. Today, all 83 of this company's home improvement warehouse stores use extensive skylights and photocontrols.

HomeBase was, of course, concerned about saving energy and money. However, the primary motivation behind the chain's decision to use skylighting was its effect on sales. HomeBase reports that products appear more vibrant under daylight, and plants look healthy and attractive. Natural light even helps customers choose flooring and paint, since it reveals the "true" colors of these products.
